Surah Ar-Rahman with English Translation

Reciter: Mishaaree bin Raashid Al-'Afaasee / Mishary Al-Afasy.

Surat ar-Rahman (Arabic: سورة الرحمن) is the 55th Surah of the Qur'an with 78 ayat. It has the refrain: "Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?"

Ar-Rahman is often regarded as the 'beauty of the Quran', in accordance with a hadith: Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud reported that the Prophet Muhammad said, "Everything has an adornment, and the adornment of the Qur'an is Surah ar Rahman" [Bayhaqi in Shuab al Eiman]

The main theme of the Surah is giving manifestation and fruits to the attribution of Allah's mercy and grace, which is evident right from the beginning, till the very end.

INTRODUCTION TO ISLAM

Honor and Respect of Muslim Women in Islam - Yusuf Estes Part 1/2
Islam is a verb meaning: Surrender (your will to Allah), Submit, Obey, Sincerity, and 'salam' or peace. Islam gives freedom in chioce to believe or not to believe. It says in the Qur'an 2:256 "There is no compulsion in religion." And the accusations which say 'Islam was spread by the sword' it is a rather silly accusation. As explained, Islam requires people to submit willfully to the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, not to any King, country, or to any race.
Fact:

- India was ruled by the Muslims for over 1000 years. Today over 80% of the population of India are non-Muslims
- Spain was ruled by the Muslims for 800 years and in fact Muslims got eradicated by the European Crusaders
- The Muslims have been the Masters of the Arab lands for overs 1400 years, yet there are still 14 million Arab Coptic Christians

The West has always been exposed to false religions and because they've been exposed to false religions and they forcefully converted people into their religion, it caused a lot of wars and killings. Even scientists were exterminated eg. Galileo. Wars such as The Crusades, and the 100 year war took place because of false religions and their unnatural beliefs. Because of the killing of scientists and the contradictions found in the Bible and the maths that didn't add up (ie. 3 in 1 and 1 in 3), the scientific community took a stance against the church. RESULT: THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION AND DARWINISM. People became atheists.

Then the western leaders sat down and decided to remove all faiths by introducng a new religion, called: "No Religion" in one word Democracy. And now they are repeating the SAME mistake - of forcefully converting people to their new way of thinking - but the difference is instead of fighting amongst themselves, they are killing Non-Europeans/Non-Americans and that is the reason for the set-up (After World War I and II) and establishment of the United Nations.

-Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women
Western talk of womens liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have uplifted women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of art and culture.

-USA has one of the highest rates of rape
United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans got bolder in the following years.
Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijaab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?

10 Ways to Control your Dreams

Dreams are successions of images, ideas, emotions and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. The content and purpose of dreams are not yet understood, though they have been a topic of speculation and interest throughout recorded history. The scientific study of dreams is known as oneirology. Throughout history, people have sought meaning in dreams or divination through dreams. Dreams have also been described physiologically as a response to neural processes during sleep; psychologically as reflections of the subconscious; and spiritually as messages from gods, the deceased, predictions of the future, or from the Soul. Many cultures practice dream incubation with the intention of cultivating dreams that are prophetic or contain messages from the divine. Recent studies indicate that dreams could be controlled by a learning response. Just imagine that for an instant. It looks feels and sounds exactly the same as ‘normal’ reality, except that you know that it isn’t. You know that you are perfectly safe; you cannot die or get injured, that is Lucid Dreaming. There are no normal rules and regulations about what you get up to! It is truly your own ‘Individual Virtual Reality’, with a depth of realism far beyond the most sophisticated computer imitation. Let’s see how.

10. Motivation & Set the Intention

Lucid Dreaming is the ability to have vivid self-awareness while dreaming. On entering this scientifically proven state of heightened consciousness, you can experience and control your dreams with surprising richness and intensity. Imagine waking up in your dreams with the ability to do anything, meet anyone, go anywhere… and all in vivid detail with your five senses fully alive. It is an exhilarating experience where all your dreams vividly come true. Everybody has the capacity to learn how to have lucid dreams – it just takes motivation and practice. The more skilled you become at meditation and entering altered states of awareness on demand, the easier it is to go lucid at will. And once you make the decision to become conscious in your dreams, it has the potential to completely change your relationship with your inner self forever.

9. Your Sleep Posture and Relaxation

Close your eyes and lie on your back. Take three deep breaths in and out. Feel your body sinking into the bed, and let go of all the tension in your muscles. Enjoy the feeling of relaxation, and focus on your intention to control your dreams. Allow any thoughts to pass you by, without interacting with them. Keep your body totally relaxed and still. Repeat over in your mind: “One. The next scene will be a dream. Two. The next scene will be a dream. Three…” etc. This will set your intention and keep your mind alert while your body slowly drifts back to sleep.
You can have more success with certain sleep postures over others. Best would be the common fetal position (on side, with knees and elbows tucked in) as well as flat on back. It can be strange to be walking around in a lucid dream one moment, then lying curled up in bed the next. Sometimes you even wake yourself up because you’ve moved your arm in the lucid dream and accidentally triggered real life arm to move and hit the bed. This can be disorienting and cause a sudden shift in awareness from one body to the next, but if you stay still and close  eyes again, you can often return to the same lucid dream from the exact same place you left off.

8. Spontaneous Lucidity

Until you have your first lucid dream, the whole concept may seem too elusive, causing people to give up before they’ve begun. So I thought it would be helpful to define exactly how to enter the lucid dream state. This is the most common kind of lucid dream in beginners. In fact, your first lucid dream was probably caused by spontaneously lucidity. This occurs when you suddenly realize “I’m dreaming!” for no apparent reason. Or perhaps your dream became so strange that your conscious self awareness kicked in. Spontaneous lucidity relies mostly on luck. However, by increasing your self awareness during the day time you can train yourself to recognize the dream state better, and thereby learn how to become lucid in dreams with ease. Through regular meditation and lucid dreaming, you can become a lot more self aware. This helps to recognize the dream state even when it is mimicking real life, because you can pick up on more subtler clues.

Refining the concept of "happiness"

Apart from collecting and analyzing the data from my students, I am doing a lot of reading to better understand the concept of happiness. In truth, there are a number of inter-linked concepts:
a) Hope
b) Optimism
c) Resilience

At the moment, my focus is on better understanding Martin Seligman's work on optimism. He argues that many people are pessimistic because of the way think. Typically, they think that problems will last for a long time and that one problem will destroy their whole life ("I have always been a loser and now my whole life is finished"). However, when people become aware of how they think, they can be trained to see their problems in a more optimistic way. Typically, a problem is temporary and the impact is limited ("I didn't do well just now but it's no big deal. I still have a wonderful job and a great future). The next step is to try developing these skills in the classroom.

Damascus "The eye of the whole east"

The eye of the whole east"

"The silent gardens blurred green with river mist, in whose setting shimmered the city, beautiful as ever, like a pearl in the morning sun"T.E. Lawrence
Damascus is known to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. There is firm evidence that in the third millennium BC, Damascus was a population center of a civilization that was considerably prosperous and economically influential. The earliest reference to the city was found in the archaeological site of Ebla in 1975; where the word "Damaski" was found on one of the clay tablets. Some historians believe that the city actually dates back to the seventh millennium BC.
Controversial explanations have been made to guess the etymological origin of the name of the Syrian capital city. Some hold that “damashaq” means the fast-moving camel and the name was given because the building of the city was completed swiftly.   Others believe it was named after Damashaq the great grandson of Sam son of Noah,   who built the city.
Still others presume that the Romans called it “Dumuskus” which means the double musk.   Or perhaps the name was taken from Hermes son in Greek mythology   that came over to Syria. In Aramean the name might have been derived from Dermask   or dersauk as (E deim) means land and (mask) means (red) in Syrian.
Whatever the etymological origin of the word, Damascus remains, as ever "the eye of the whole east" as the Roman Julianus described the greatness of the city.
Under the Roman it was a chief town, and later the fortress of Bilad-Al-Sham, and the passage to Mecca, the pavilion of all Muslims and God’s paradise on earth have never seen anything so extensive as its orchard, as good as its fruits and so plentiful as its water.
It is said the water is so abundant that  a fountain can be found in every house.
Some historical sources say that the name of Damashaq (Damascus) is  derived from the Aramaic word (dam shaq) which means a town built on  the rock where the blood of Mash, the fourth son of Aram Bin Sam Bin Noah,  flowed soon after a heavy blow by his brother Aws deeply cut Mash’s head.  The fight between the two brothers broke out when they could not come into  agreement on the name of the new town, some historians had different illustrations  with regard to the name of (Dimashaq).
The old city of Damascus still preserves its graphical and historical aspects,   the high wall, which protects the old city of Damascus, is crystal clear until today.
Geographically, Damascus is situated in the southwestern corner of Syria. It is built at the foot of a buttress of the Anti-Lebanon, Mount Kassioun, and at the border of a fertile plain, the Ghouta. It is situated just a two-hour drive away from the Lebanese capital Beirut and the Jordanian border, and about the same from the temporary Israeli border at the Golan Heights. The villages of Maaloula and Seidnaya are less than an hour away, and so is the Mosque of Al Sayidah Zeinab.
The Damascus Citadel
This citadel stands at the northwest corner of the Old City. It is much smaller than that of Aleppo, and is the only citadel in Syria that is on the same level as the rest of the city.
The Roman castrum or military camp was here, and it was probably a stronghold before that. What remains to be seen today dates back to the Ayyubid and Mameluke periods, when Sultan al Adil used this fortification to preserve Damascus against the Crusaders and Mongols in the 13th century.
In 1260 however it was destroyed by the first Mongol invasion. It was rebuilt by the Mameluke Sultan Baybars, who made sure that the original 16 towers and walls were rebuilt. However, it was to be heavily knocked down by the second Mongol invasion in 1400 by Tamerlane. The Ottomans did not really pay much attention to it and it was only slightly repaired.
It cannot be entered at the present because of heavy reconstruction and excavation work, which will hopefully uncover its mysterious history.
The Barada Valley
Flowing from the Anti Lebanon mountain range into and through Damascus, the Barada River is an important source for Damascus. In fact, it is one of the main reasons for Damascus' s existence.
Many Damascenes travel up into the mountains, to the valley of Barada to enjoy the fresh air, and the running water. Ain el Figeh where restaurants line up on the riverside of a spring that used to be a source for drinking water and Souk Wadi Barada where Abel's tomb is said to be (opposing the idea that he is buried in Kassioun), are very popular places.
However Zabadani and Bloudan are the most favorite.
Zabadani
This resort, lying 1200 meters in altitude and 50 Km from Damascus, gets extremely busy in the summer. Visitors generally come here to escape the summer heat of the city. From here you can visit the lake, which is Barada's source and the beautiful plain of Zabadani, which is planted with apricot, apple and walnut trees.
Bloudan
Further up into the mountains is Bloudan, a resort more than 1400 meters in altitude. It is much cooler in this village, and many springs are found in this area. The famous spring of Boukein is located in this area, and is the source of the biggest bottled mineral water company, Boukein.
Some Syrian Proverbs:
If you want to confuse him, give him a choice
Let your money be insulted but not yourself
When we decided to trade coffins, people decided not to die!
When the lions are away, the hyenas play
Whoever gets between the onion and its skin will get nothing but its stink
Spend what is in your pocket, you will get more from the unknown
Patience is the key to relief
   A beggar and he bargains!

My message

My message

Today, i just want to forward an important message to Muslims who want to settle in FRANCE. Unfortunately, i was born and grow in FRANCE. In this country, we can observed with the time that Muslims are not really welcome. Few months ago, the french government forbidden the wearing of the niqab(cover the full face).
Next year, they prepared a second banning of the bhurka ...
If they do that, they will probably forbidden the wearing of the Hijab !!!!!

Everyday, in my prayers i asked to ALLAH(swt) : "settle me as soon as possible in INDIA ". Why INDIA : there is all my family, we can practise ISLAM without problem...  Wear bhurka and cover our face face without problem.
The big changement on me :

_ I'm always cool ( i can be angry very very rarely)
_ 100% happy
_ Feel more better
_ Become more modest
_ Even if doctors don't know what i have (knee problem wich no one saw it before), I don't take it serious, i just think : "ALLAH(swt) know the best for us ...

Just try to read the QURAN and pray regularly you will see the changement yourself : you will be cool, tolerant, etc. Then you will thank ALLAH(swt) for this changement !!!!

Something in your life will make trust on ISLAM, and something else will make you strong on your faith(ISLAM)

Insha'allah i'm going to try to wear the bhurka ...
Yours M.Shameena

Pomegranate Juice Reduces Inflammation, Tissue Damage and Infections, Study Suggests

Pomegranates are rich in vitamins B and C, and many other antioxidants. Pomegranate juice has three times the amount of polyphenols than are found in green tea. These polyphenols are antioxidants that have been proven to protect against cancer, heart disease and lower blood pressure. A new study now suggests that the pomegranate can ward off a number of complications in kidney disease patients on dialysis, including reduced inflammation and other complications associated with kidney disease, according to a paper being presented at the American Society of Nephrology's 43rd Annual Meeting and Scientific Exposition in Denver, CO.

The study examined 101 dialysis patients who received either pomegranate juice or another placebo drink at the beginning of each dialysis session, three times a week for one year.
Laboratory tests showed that patients who drank pomegranate juice experienced reduced inflammation and less damage caused by oxidative stress. Furthermore, pomegranate juice drinkers were less likely to be hospitalized due to infections. These findings support other studies that suggest pomegranate juice has potent antioxidant properties.
The study also revealed that those who drank pomegranate juice also showed an improvement in cardiovascular risk factors, such as reduced blood pressure and improvement in lipid profile, suggesting that they had better heart health.
The authors say their findings suggest that drinking a controlled amount of pomegranate juice with a safe and monitored content of potassium may help reduce the complications that often occur in dialysis patients.
"Considering the expected epidemic of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the next decade, further clinical trials using pomegranate juice aimed at reducing the high cardiovascular morbidity of CKD patients and their deterioration to end-stage renal disease should be conducted," said one of the authors of the study.
The pomegranate is a wonderful all-round health protector. As well as its benefits highlighted in this study, its abundant levels of powerful antioxidants preserve health in other ways. Pomegranate helps prevent heartosteoarthritis by slowing the deterioration of cartilage in the joints and preventing inflammation. It has also been found to reduce the risk of developing several cancers, and in men who already have prostate cancer, pomegranate has been found to slow the rate at which tumors grow. damage and the build-up of plaque in the arteries. It can ease the pain of

Quit blaming Ulema and start to write your own destiny

As the age of research work, quality education and divine power that had been empowering Muslims to face the challenges of every era moved out from them all over the world, another tendency has grown very rapidly among Muslims. It is the tendency to push the blame on the Ulema, holding them accountable for every failure, pointing fingers towards some specific Islamic laws, declaring the syllabus being taught in Madrasas and religious institutions as outdated and terming Madrasas as a symbol of old age – which is seen especially in the Muslim community in India.
The Sachar Commission report makes the air clear about Madrasas - the percentage of Muslims who approach Madrasas for education is only 4, even the financial condition of Madrasas, teachers and students who study there is not much better. As it is known to all Muslims, Madrasas, except for some, have no good infrastructure due to very bad financial conditions as they are run solely by donations from Muslims. In such an atmosphere, is it just to expect the 4% to solve all the problems of Muslims, the problems being plenty?
Laziness, dullness, distancing themselves from hard work, selecting short-cut ways to make money, wasting time in watching films and TV programs, or taking part in unnecessary works and making themselves busy in nonsense subjects, or trying to get awards and fame by making comments against the Ulema – indeed all these paved the way for majority of Muslims to put the Ulema on target so that the latter can cover their failure and no one would blame them for the deteriorating situation of Muslims in India.
Pushing the blame on Ulema and pointing the finger towards Madrasas is a very easy task, but conceding our own faults and mistakes is very hard work for most of us. Do we forget what our behavior with the Ulema and Madrasas are? How do the Madrasa people get donations and how do they collect it from every Muslim so that they can arrange a free education to poor Muslims in Madrasas?
Is collecting donations an easy work? When the representatives of Madrasas knock the doors of Muslim homes and ask some donation for Madrasas, during the month of Ramzan or in normal days, what do most of us do? Why do we misbehave with them? Why do we treat them as if they were beggars? Even my own personal experience is very harsh; very few people treat them with respect and dignity, most of us close the door before them, some of us make excuses. Some of us ask them to come after two hours and when the representatives come after two hours, they are said there is nobody in the home and asked to come the next day. When these representatives come again, we do not open the door, or they are told from the window to go away and never to come. Some of us tell them we are against Madrasas, hence we will not give any donation. And if some agree to pay the donation, they give just 10 rupees or 5 rupees or 20 or 30 rupees. And these representatives of Madrasas, despite this misbehavior, go from door to door, room to room, house to house, knock every door to collect 5 or 10 or 20 or 50 rupees. Some of us drive them off, some of us use abusive language against them, some advise them to leave the Madrasas, some of us say to them “you cheat the people” but no one asks them, ‘please come in my home, have a tea, have some cold water’, or ‘please have lunch with us today or tomorrow’. Most of us throw hundreds of questions on them for giving just 10 or 20 rupees, such as ‘where are you from?’ ‘Who are you?’ ‘Give details of the madrasa,’ etc. And at last, unwillingly, grudgingly and resentfully we agree to give a mere 10 or 20 rupees; while thousands rupees are being spent in purchasing an item just because our children like it.

Students of a Delhi madrasa.
This is the harsh reality of Muslims’ behavior with the representatives of Madrasas. We feel hesitation in donating just 10 or 20 rupees, while a particular class in the Muslim community always blames the Ulema, targets Madrasas and its education system. This class always demands computer education to be taught there. Can anyone let me know how much the cost of one computer is? How many people have gifted even one computer to any Madrasa? If anyone gives computer or funds to Madrasas, in return he wants to be listed as one among the members of the Madrasa and wants to interfere in the Madrasa’s education system. I ask the common Muslim how much he pays for the education of his one child in an English school. It may be Rs 5000 or Rs 6000 per month; however, the cost of education of a Madrasa student for one year exceeds no more than Rs 5000. Madrasas themselves bear the cost of books, breakfast, dinner and lunch and so on; no one goes there to ask the officials of Madrasas how they arrange meals every day for hundreds and thousands of their students.
We want high-class and well-rounded graduates to come out from the Madrasas. We, however, face trouble in giving a mere 10 or 20 rupees as donation. A family can spend thousands rupees just for the happiness of their children; a family can purchase puppets, video games, CD players, and so on and on but when donating a few rupees they think these Madrasa people have made them bankrupt and penniless.
Same is the situation of Imams in our country. An Imam is paid Rs 2000 or Rs 3000 normally, and it may come to Rs 5000 if the Masjid is big. Most of the Masjids are being run by donations and with the help of Muslims. Sometimes, the Masjid administration faces difficulties in giving even this salary to the Imam; how do we expect the Imam to sustain his family with such a small amount?
No doubt, there are hundreds and thousands of Muslims whose donation, help and sacrifices are helping the owners of Madrasas to run these institutions without a hope of prize or award.
I would like to say, the Ulema have besieged themselves within the boundaries of Madrasas and religious education only. Rest of the field is left free for the entire Muslim community. Why are they not trying their luck in these fields? The Muslim community is in need of good doctors, engineers, scientists, architects and so on.
When it has been made clear that only 4% or less than 4% go to Madarasas for education, what about the rest 96%?
There are many rich Muslims, and there are hundreds of scholars, professors and others whose salary and monthly income is more than one lakh and who have great respect, relations and sources within and outside the community. Why are they not trying to build another university? Why can’t a network of schools and universities be deployed across the country?
In these 63 years, the Ulema established a network of Madrasas throughout the country, collecting one rupee and two rupees and suffering a lot of difficulties. Then why can’t these powerful leaders gift any new university to Indian Muslims?
First we have to change our attitude, our behavior and our manner. Change our minds and be ready to make sacrifices; nothing will change if we continue to blame the Ulema and madrasas.
Differences and oppositions have a place in every community, but in the Muslim community it is being used as a tool to escape from discharging the responsibilities.
If every Muslim does his own work, I think no one can stop them from arriving at a higher position in the world. If every professional Muslim does his work in his field well he will see the result in just a few years. The society will be changed and Muslims will shine, if only they do this.
In this society in which voices arise against the Ulema and Madrasas, we can see that two small children, who were living in slum areas and were from poor families, won the Oscar awards and found no problem in achieving these goals. How did this happen? Muslims have to think about it hundreds and thousands of times.
Many times, we saw in Delhi, non-Muslim boys and girls from very poor families reading, studying and finishing their home work sitting on small broken beds beside the road, where there were noises and crowds of rikshaw-pullers and passersby. In spite of all this, and under the heat of the sun, these boys and girls were busy studying. Can Muslims take a lesson from them instead of blaming the Ulema and Madrasas?
I would like to say to all Indian Muslims that their problems could be put to an end within just a few years if every Muslim decided to play a pivotal role in building the community and the country.
