Alija Izetbegović was a great Bosniak activist, lawyer, author, philosopher and politician, who became the first president of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1990. During World War II when the Serbian Chetniks were fighting on the side of the Nazis, Alija Izetbegović served half a year at the beginning of WWII in Tito's anti-fascist partisans before finishing Law School. Later when the Serbs destroyed the former Yugoslavia and came to power to with the express purpose to commit genocide against the Muslim Bosniaks and Albanians he spent his last years in their defense.
Yes, remember... This year they will do the 16th anniversary of Srebrenica in Turkey at Taqsim square.

“Seek truth in meditation, not in moldy books. Look in the sky, to find the moon, not in the pond.” – a Persian proverb.

I can’t help but recall the Killers of Imam Hussain (as) on the plains of Karbala. It’s been narrated that some of the murders had memorised the entire Quran. Memorised! How many times they must have read the Quran to have it memorised. Yet, they were urging their commander to start the battle early so that they could kill the Holy Imam and then offer their prayers. The lesson is the same. Reading may be first baby step towards enlightenment, but is useless without reflection.
